Jon Batiste & Stay Human will play a Jazz Fest after show at the Civic Theatre in New Orleans on Saturday, April 30.
The contemporary jazz quartet–who are best known as the house band for the Late Show with Stephen Colbert–will take the stage at 9pm, just a few hours after playing the main festival at the Fair Grounds Race Course.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Batiste has developed quite the name for himself since moving to New York City. The pianist and composer has collaborated with the likes of Prince, Wynton Marsalis and Lenny Kravis, appeared on HBO’s Treme and co-written the score to Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer with Bruce Hornsby.
He’s also been a big advocate for his hometown, often finding ways to reference the city and it’s culture on the Late Show. Batiste even brought Colbert down to New Orleans, where they filmed a series of segments at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (Batiste’s alma mater) and Frenchmen Street.
Tickets for Jon Batiste & Stay Human at the Civic Theatre will go on sale this Friday, February 26 at 10am CST.
