NOLA Horror Film Fest is back for its 9th year of frightening fun at the historic Prytania Theatre from September 26 to 29.
Chosen from 727 national submissions, this year’s film selections include 64 films and 20 screenplay finalists from various horror filmmakers. NOHFF began as a way to bring together horror fans, artists and anyone interested in the medium of genre films. Over its eight years of operation, NOHFF has grown, with the addition of live music this year, including performances by New Orleans based horror-rock Deadsled Funeral Company–who will perform on opening night–and Dead Music Capital Band from Austin, TX closing the festival out on Sunday.
On opening night NOHFF will screen The Black String, starring Frankie Muniz, of “Malcolm in the Middle” fame, as a slacker who begins to unravel a supernatural plot after meeting a mysterious woman. To end the festival on Sept. 29, NOHFF will screen Every Time I Die, a body-switching thriller about a surrealist haunting and a murderer.
Some other notable features and short films include Swing Low (featuring a performance by Bruce Dern of Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight), Cold Feet, Samantha, La Noria, Asking for a Friend and To Your Last Death (featuring William Shatner of Star Trek, Ray Wise of Twin Peaks and Bill Moseley of various Rob Zombie films).
Weekend passes and day passes are availbale from filmfreeway, or single screening tickets are available at the door for $10. The Prytania Theater is located at 5339 Prytania St. Check out NOHFF on social media, or to see a complete schedule visit the NOLA Horror Film Fest website, here.
