Members of Treme Brass Band and more join forces with award-winning musician Johnette Downing for a quintessentially New Orleans jam, “Bamboula Rhythm.”
Downing, who enlisted the help of veteran producer Scott Billington for the song, is a nationally recognized children’s music star. Earlier this year, the two released the NAPPA (National Parenting Product Awards)-winning album, Swamp Romp. Though technically an album created for children, it features songs for both young and “grown-up” audiences, including the duo’s “Bamboula Rhythm.” Today (February 13), the two premiere the Lily Keber-directed music video at OffBeat.com.
The song features Dirty Dozen Brass Band members Roger Lewis (baritone saxophone), Kevin Harris (tenor saxophone) and Kirk Joseph (sousaphone), as well as drummer Doug Belote. The video stars Downing and Billington, plus Mardi Gras Indian “Honey” Bannister and second line dancer Nicole Tate, along with Treme Brass Band members Vernon Severin (snare drum) and Benny Jones (bass drum).
“Bamboula Rhythm” brings the exuberance of a New Orleans street parade directly to you– perfect for children and their adults to dance along.
