Due to inclement weather, the Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc has postponed its annual Joan of Arc Parade, which was originally scheduled for this evening. The event will now take place tomorrow—Saturday, January 7—in the same location.

Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc will honor the 605th birthday of its namesake when its returns for its ninth annual gathering. The procession, which usually falls on Twelfth Night, celebrates the famed Maiden of Orleans and ushers in the beginning of Carnival seasons.

The parade will make its way through much of the French Quarter and will include a toast from the Consul General of France, Gregor Trumel. The parade’s royalty will play the part of various historical figures, with Camille Whitworth portraying Queen Yolande of Aragon, Jean-Luc Albin portraying Charles VII, and Héloïse Trumel taking up the role of Joan of Arc.

The parade begins at 7pm on the corner of Toulouse and Decatur Streets, and ends at roughly 8:45pm at Washington Artillery Park across from Jackson Square. The toast is slated for 7:15pm in front of the Williams Research Center/Historic New Orleans Collection balcony.

Founded in 2008, the Joan of Arc parade now features 300+ artists, families, and Francophiles who don medieval clothing, pull handmade props and carry puppets that depict Joan of Arc’s life, from childhood to sainthood.
