On Friday, March 14, Jim Monaghan’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take to the streets of the French Quarter. Featuring formally dressed riders in horse-drawn carriages and Irish throws, the parade has wound its way down Bourbon Street every year since 1982.
This year’s parade will be led by Roots of Music donor Todd Biever and will begin at 6 p.m. at Molly’s At The Market, Monaghan’s flagship watering hole at 1107 Decatur Street. The party will process to the Erin Rose at 811 Conti Street via Decatur, Bienville, and Burgundy Streets. After a slight pause for drink refills at the Erin Rose, the parade will roll up Bourbon Street on the way back to Molly’s.
Rolling through the streets of the French Quarter on the Friday before St. Patrick’s Day every year since 1982, this year’s parade celebrates the 40th anniversary of Molly’s At The Market’s opening at 1107 Decatur Street.
The Storyville Stompers and the New Wave Brass Band will be among the brass bands marching with the parade, and the Kazooie Floozies, the Bearded Oysters, and the Muffalettas will all participate.
