Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas
Self-described as a Gothic-Soul-Pop artist, Jessica Hernandez brings her band the Deltas all the way from New Orleans’ midwestern sister city, Detroit, for an intimate show at one of our favorite bars on Saturday, March 9. Hernandez has been one of the most buzzed-about funk-rock musicians hailing from Motown of late, and the band’s show on Saturday, March 9 at the Circle Bar will mark their NOLA debut.
Jessica is a singer-songwriter of Latina heritage, but “not that kind of singer-songwriter” she says – no Selena or Shakira here, lest people think she’s all folksy or what not. After all, she is from Motown — this girl’s got soul.
Recently signed to Capitol Records’ prestigious and storied jazz imprint, Blue Note Records, Hernandez is well on her way to being the next big thing. Only three years out there full-time in the music game, her outfit is already garnering gads of critical acclaim. So far she has performed alongside acts such as Fitz & the Tantrums and Mayer Hawthorne just to name a few, and she is working with producers from Grammy-Award-winning band the Black Keys as she puts the finishing touches on to her soon-to-be released major label debut. Recorded at her Detroit hometown’s lauded Rustbelt Studios, it’s probably safe to say that her forthcoming album will be one to watch for this year — especially given Detroit’s legacy of churning out so many of music’s most quality records.
Be among the first in New Orleans to hear what this festival queen’s buzz in all about and catch Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas on Saturday, March 9 at the Circle Bar for only five bucks — surely a set not-to-be-missed!
