The 8th annual Jazz Education Network Conference has announced a lineup of performers and workshop leaders that include Preservation Hall Legacy Band, Ellis Marsalis Quintet, Stanton Moore Trio, and more.
The conference is coming to New Orleans on January 4-7, 2017. The Jazz Education Network (JEN) looks to build upon the jazz arts community around the country by educating and promoting performances. JEN holds their yearly conference to foster connections among jazz educators and other members of the jazz community. This year, it will be held at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans.
In addition to networking opportunities, the JENerations Jazz Festival will be held at the conference. The festival provides jazz ensemble directors with the chance to sign up their school or community ensemble for a performance slot. Hundreds elementary, middle, junior high, high school, community and college musicians of all ages participate in this event each year.
Other events at the conference include the JEN Young Composer Showcase, which provides students with the opportunity to showcase an original composition. There will be performances, presentations and exhibitions as well. Registration for the conference is now open: early registration costs $175 for members, $75 for spouses and domestic partners and $50 for students. You can register here.
