Spring 2018 has sprung and with it, plentiful outdoor music events. At Louis Armstrong Park, this means the beloved “Jazz in the Park” outdoor concert series, which is now in its lucky 13th season. Today (March 29), Jazz in the Park announced the lineup for its Spring season, which kicks off Thursday, April 26 and runs through Thursday, June 7.
The schedule is as follows:
April 26: Kermit Ruffins and Walter L. Cohn High School marching band
May 3: Sporty & The Big Shots and Noisewater
May 10: Joe Krown featuring Walter “Wolfman” Washington
May 17: James Andrews
May 24: Big 6 Brass Band, Caesar Brothers Funkbox, N’awlins Johnnys and DTA Academy Middle School Brass Band
May 31: Little Freddie King and Tamara Goldinella
June 7: Darcy Malone and The Tangle
DJ Slick Leo will also be on site, providing park goers with dancefloor-boosting warm-up music.
Also announced today was May 11’s Crab Fest, which features Michael Franks and Loose Ends. Tickets for that range from $30-$100 and are available here. Last year’s event sold out, so organizers are urging fans to get a jump on tickets.
As always, however, Jazz in the Park concerts are free (donations to People United for Armstrong Park encouraged) and open to the public. Make Thursdays fun again!
