Now that Jazz in the Park is back with free live music every Thursday at Armstrong Park, does that mean fall is finally here?
The Fall 2015 seasons kicks off this Thursday, September 3rd with Jon Cleary & the Absolute Monster Gentlemen and Charmaine Neville. The rest of the schedule is as follows:
Sep 10th: Partners N Crime, Brassaholics
Sep 17th: Corey Henry & the Treme Funktet, Treme Brass Band
Sep 24th: Russel Batiste & Friends, Free Agents Brass Band
Oct 1st: Raw Oyster Cult, Pinettes Brass Band
Oct 8th: Mike “Soulman” Baptiste, Gina Brown
Oct 22nd: TBA, Marion Jordan Band
Oct 29th: Little Freddie King, Erica Falls
This will be the event’s eighth year running, and so far they’ve brought in nearly 150K attendees. The series is popular with visitors and locals alike and books a variety of different types of local music. They’ve raised over 500K for musicians and performers and have racked up an equal amount in vendor sales.
What’s more, as stated on New Orleans Online, Jazz in the Park and People United for Armstrong Park have provided free career training in festival and music production to 25 people.
Live music runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and that’s only the beginning. There’ll be DJ sets in between, tons of food vendors, local handmade jewelry and crafts, and live painting.
