Jazz in the Park has revealed the schedule for its Spring 2016 season.
The free concert series will welcome artists like Kermit Ruffins, Honey Island Swamp Band, Amanda Shaw, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra featuring Irvin Mayfield, James Andrews and many others to New Orleans’ Armstrong Park every Thursday between April 14 and June 9. The events will take place from 4pm to 8pm and will include both opening and headlining acts.
Additionally, Jazz in the Park has announced that it will host its first ever three-day Treme Art & Music Festival from May 6 to 8. The free festival, which takes place the weekend after Jazz Fest, will showcase the Soul Rebels, Raw Oysters Cult, Little freddie King, the Treme Brass Band, Walter “Wolfman” Washington & The Roadmasters, Corey Henry’s Treme Funktet and many more.
The festival will include a number of local high school marching bands, who will parade down the park’s St. Ann promenade every hour. The Sudan Social and Pleasure Club and the One Sound Brass Band will also lead second lines during set changes.
