Approximately 425,000 people attended the 2017 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, according to the information released by the event earlier today. That’s the same number as last year, when many blamed heavy rains for lower-than-expected turnout.
This year and last year’s attendance numbers are 35,000 less than the 460,000 who came in 2015, and 10,000 less than the 435,000 who attended in 2014. The festival hit its highest number when 650,000 people attended in 2001 (Dave Matthews Band, Paul Simon, Mystikal, Van Morrison, The Neville Brothers and more played that year).
Additionally, Jazz Fest has also confirmed that its 2018 edition will take place April 27-May 6, which is in line with the fest’s tradition of holding down the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May.
