The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will present an exhibit celebrating the talented artists participating at the 50th Jazz Fest.
The pre-Festival exhibit, “Outside the Tent,” will showcase the works of Crafts and Folklife participants whose work will be on display in the marketplace at the upcoming New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell, April 25 – 28 and May 2 – 5, 2019. “Outside the Tent” will kick off in early April, when the public is invited to an opening-night reception at the exhibit’s home, the Jazz & Heritage Gallery (1205 N. Rampart St.).
“Outside the Tent” aims to provide the public with an opportunity to get an early look at Jazz Fest art and meet some of the artists. Folks can expect to see a wide range of works including handcrafted work reflective of the African Diaspora, contemporary art featuring handmade originals, Louisiana art, works from master artisans and culture bearers and more.
The opening-night reception of “Outside the Tent” takes place Thursday, April 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. According to organizers, the public is “encouraged to wear their party clothes expecting a festive time.” The exhibit runs through May 3.
