After hours of heavy winds and rain, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival has announced that the remainder of its Saturday programming–predominantly the day’s headliners–has been called off. Stevie Wonder, Beck, Snoop, Arturo Sandoval and Buddy Guy are among the acts that were scheduled to perform.
A post on the festival’s Facebook page reads:
Jazz Fest Weather Bulletin
Saturday, April 30, 2016
Due to severe weather conditions, the remaining programming for today at Jazz Fest has been cancelled.
Please follow the Festival on Facebook and Twitter for information regarding tomorrow’s scheduled events.
There is currently no word on make up performances or anything of that nature. More information will posted as it comes in.
UPDATE: It looks like Stevie Wonder took the stage for at least a few minutes to lead fans in a “Purple Rain” singalong through a megaphone. Here’s a video courtesy of Twitter user @geraldmayeaux.
