Jazz Fest Bible 2025 Post Office Woes

Our Jazz Fest Bible is printed in Macon, Georgia by the firm Panaprint. To expedite shipping, we ask the printer to mail to our subscribers a copy of the Jazz Fest Bible. We also ask that they are shipped FIRST CLASS, a more expensive option.

Having the printer process the mailing increases the costs because not only do we have to pay for the postage but also for the handling, packaging the magazines and bringing them to the post office. We spend the extra money because this usually will guarantee our subscribers will receive the Jazz Fest Bible before the Festival begins. This saves nearly SIX days in getting the magazines into the mail. If we were to mail them when received in New Orleans, they would not be placed in the mail until Thursday, April 24.

The magazines were shipped to New Orleans on Friday April 18 and also placed in the mail on that day. The post office standards say that First Class mail will be delivered within 1 to 5 days. That would mean that the latest it should have been delivered and received was April 25. It is now April 29, FOUR days over the post office standard. The postage receipt is below.

We always mail a copy of the magazine to ourselves to be able to monitor when the magazines are received. Unfortunately, it is Tuesday, April 29, 11 days after the magazines were delivered to the post office and they have not yet been received, nor have we received our copy.

We sincerely apologize. It’s very depressing and upsetting, especially since the first weekend of Jazz Fest is over and our subscribers have not received the magazine.

I can tell you stories of how dreadful the post office can be—they take no responsibility and basically couldn’t care less, but what’s the point? Filing a complaint usually goes nowhere. All we all want is the magazine that we’ve worked so hard to produce that promotes our local music and musicians to be delivered to our readers around the globe.

We are crossing our fingers and hope it gets delivered before the second weekend of Jazz Fest.

Update: May 1, 18 days after it was placed in the mail, still not received.
Tried to get someone on the phone at the Macon Georgia Post Office, after 1 hour of trying, I determined it was impossible. I did however leave 3 messages, none of which was returned.

Response from our Printer May 2, 2025
Books are still being scanned. Unfortunately, the ones scanned yesterday were still at the RPDC in Atlanta. The RPDC is the main hub.

Stephanie has been checking every day for updates. The mail is not lost, it is just being VERY SLOW, which is not good as your books are time sensitive for an event.

We do not have any pull or relations with anyone at the post offices to call directly to ask specific questions. The phone just rings and rings and no one ever answers the calls.

The Atlanta RPDC has been national news for a while, but this is where all our mail goes; we cannot bypass the RPDC; we have tried.

Update: May 3, 2025
We have contacted Senator Warnock’s office regarding this issue and are awaiting a response. Needless to say, the Jazz Fest Bible will arrive after the festival ends. Very frustrating.

It’s been 18 days and the Jazz Fest Bible still has not been received. Last we heard it was still being process in Atlanta, see video below.

Thursday, May 8, 2025 – 20 days in the mail

Received in the U.K. the same day received in the U.S.

We apologize to all of our subscribers who have been waiting, and must wonder if it ever will be delivered. I’m relieved to report that my copy was received yesterday. Three subscribers also reported that their copy was received yesterday. And my daughter who lives in the U.K. received her copy yesterday, which suggests that the Atlanta post office did not process the domestic mail immediately, but let it sit for nearly 2 weeks.
