With 98 days until the 51st annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell kicks off on April 23, 2020, organizers today (January 16) announced details of its lineup. Jazz Fest 2020 is almost here!
Over the course of eight days — April 23 through 26 and April 30 through May 3 — legions of music fans will be treated to performances from The Who, Dead & Company, Stevie Nicks, Foo Fighters, Lizzo, Lionel Richie and more.
The headlining appearance from The Who is not much of a surprise. Like Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones did last year, Pete Townshend of The Who let the news slip via social media.
In 2019, Jazz Fest celebrated its 50th year with 475,000 attendees. The festival featured an “extra day” in the form of an added Thursday; this year, the extension will remain.
Also announced today was the daily schedule of Jazz Fest 2020, which can be seen here. Tickets are on sale, and range from $70 early bird daily tickets to $255 early bird four-day weekend passes.
Additionally, we were all treated to the unveiling of the official Jazz Fest 2020 poster, which depicts the late, great icon of New Orleans music, Malcolm “Mac” Rebennack, aka Dr. John. The poster was created by Scott Guion.
Jazz Fest is produced by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit organization which uses proceeds from Jazz Fest for “year-round activities in the areas of education, economic development and cultural enrichment.”
