Jazz Fest 2019 is just over a month away (it kicks off Thursday, April 25 and runs through Sunday, May 5). While we already know the details of who will perform over the course of the historic event’s two weekends, it wasn’t until today that organizers released the coveted “cubes.”
Now we have all of the details of who will perform on which stage, at which time, during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell at the Fair Grounds Race Course, which is the 50th anniversary of Jazz Fest. Click here to see the cubes!
Also announced at today’s press conference were details of ticket sales to see The Rolling Stones perform at Jazz Fest. Tickets ($250) will go on sale tomorrow (March 27) at Ticketmaster.com at 10 a.m. local time. There will be a limited amount available. The iconic band will close out the Gentilly Stage.
Of special note (as if everything else isn’t already special about this year’s festival) are two other performances happening this year: There will be an Ellis Marsalis Family Tribute where Wynton, Branford, Jason, Delfeayo and Ellis play together in the Jazz Tent on the first Sunday. Closing out Jazz Fest will be a historic combination of Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue with the Neville Brothers.
Prior to today’s announcement, Jazz Fest shared lots of news about historic changes to the annual, world-renowned festival. With its golden anniversary in mind, organizers decided to add an extra day of Jazz Fest (Thursday, May 2). On that date, Brass Passes will not be accepted. Also announced were the additions of GRAMMY-winning New Orleans musician PJ Morton and others to an already stacked lineup featuring The Stones, Dave Matthews Band, Katy Perry, Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band, Chris Stapleton, Pitbull, Santana, Van Morrison, Al Green, Logic and tons more.
While Jazz Fest 2019 has got your daytime and early evening festivities set, OffBeat’s frequently updated list of events happening during Jazz Fest “at night” will keep those with superhuman stamina entertained all weekends.
