Jazz Fest 2015 blasted past last year’s attendance total by 25,000, packing in 460,000 fans over the festival’s seven day run.
It seems the first weekend’s rainy weather was more than made up for by the gargantuan crowd that descended on the Fairgrounds for the second Saturday to see Elton John, Ed Sheeran, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Last year’s total of 435,000 attendees was up 10,000 from 2013, and this year’s total eclipses 2012’s tally of 450,000 music devotees.
More than 60 food vendors fed the hungry crowds, and a special pavilion in the center of the infield celebrated the 40th anniversary of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts with an array of special performances.
Jazz Fest 2016 is scheduled for April 22 – May 1. For the most up-to-date Jazz Fest info, visit www.nojazzfest.com.
