The attendance numbers for Jazz Fest 2014 show a slight increase over 2013, mainly due to two consecutive weekends of pristine weather – a rarity in the 45 year history of the festival.
With approximately 435,000 fans attending the seven day festival, this year topped the 2013 tally of 425,000 attendees, but was still eclipsed by the 450,000 people who flocked to the Fairgrounds in 2012.
The roster of headliners for 2014 drew heavily from classic rock, with Carlos Santana, Robert Plant, Eric Clapton, John Fogerty, and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band all putting in great performances.
Christina Aguilera, Robin Thicke, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, and Foster the People were among the national touring acts making a stop at Jazz Fest, while local luminaries like Allen Toussaint (who shared a stage with Jimmy Buffett), Trombone Shorty, Henry Butler, and the Radiators all returned to the stage.
AXS TV also broadcast the festival, producing more than 24 hours of coverage of Jazz Fest 2014, with a recap of the coverage available at http://www.axs.tv/festivals/jazzfest.
With Jazz Fest 2014 officially in the books, the only thing left to do is wait until the Jazz Fest 2015 kicks off on April 24, 2015.
