JAMNOLA, the cultural funhouse and immersive art experience in New Orleans, is thrilled to announce the launch of its latest exhibit, “The Brass and The Beat.” This exciting unveiling coincides with the appointment of Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph as JAMNOLA’s Music Ambassador. The exclusive event will take place at the museum on Tuesday, April 23rd, from 6-9 p.m.
Attendees at the event will be among the first to experience “The Brass and The Beat” exhibit, which will be available to JAMNOLA ticket purchasers starting Thursday, April 25. To make the occasion even more special, 20 lucky locals will have the chance to win tickets to attend the event.
Local residents can enter for the opportunity to win tickets by following @Jam.Nola on Instagram and sharing their favorite JAMNOLA post featuring Jelly to their stories using the #jellyandjam hashtag. Ten winners will be selected randomly and announced via JAMNOLA’s Instagram stories on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 12 noon CST.
As the newly appointed Music Ambassador, Jelly will be celebrated with a new portrait created by artist Ayo Scott. The portrait, rendered on bamboo shutters and framed by curtains, will create the illusion of a window shade masterpiece. Jelly, a talented singer and songwriter, has been a prominent figure in the New Orleans music scene for over a decade, having performed with renowned artists such as Galactic, Tank and the Bangas, Big Freedia, HaSizzle, Cimafunk, and featured in the remake of Roadhouse.
“The Brass and The Beat” exhibit replaces the museum’s “Makin’ Groceries” installation and pays homage to New Orleans’ iconic brass bands and musicians, highlighting their profound influence on the city’s musical heritage.
Visitors to the exhibit will encounter the Brassarium, an interactive musical terrarium curated by native New Orleanian artist and teacher Marcus Brown. This engaging exhibit invites guests to interact with brass instruments using custom interactive technology, offering a unique and immersive experience.
