“Most people know me as Jamison Ross, the drummer, but this record, my first record, is a chance to get to know me as Jamison, up close and personal.”
Those words, spoken by Jamison Ross at the start of a video previewing his upcoming debut album, simply titled Jamison, speak volumes about how the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition winner relates to the world.
If you want to get to know Jamison Ross, listen to his music.
There have certainly been multiple opportunities to hear Ross in action since he moved to New Orleans for graduate school in the Jazz Studies program at the University of New Orleans.
The busy drummer has recorded with Cindy Scott, Dr. John, Glen David Andrews, Irvin Mayfield, Snarky Puppy, and many more over the last five years. He performed with Jon Batiste & Stay Human at Jazz Fest 2014 in a stellar set.
Ross’ solo debut album is available to pre-order now in anticipation of a June 23 official release date.
