Ivan Neville will take the funk down a notch when he heads to New York City’s world famous Blue Note Jazz Club for a three-night stand. Slated for March 4-6, the rare and intimate “Piano Sessions” will showcase a different side of the Dumpstaphunk frontman.
The gigs will most likely be similar to Neville’s highly anticipated Jam Cruise solo piano sets, which find the New Orleans keymaster delivering uncharacteristically tender renditions of notable covers and original material in front of a packed room.
Speaking with OffBeat, Neville described his Jam Cruise performances as “pretty special” and “something I don’t do very often” before adding that they show a “gift inside of me that people don’t normally get to see.”
Tickets for Neville’s run a the Blue Note are now on sale.
