In its partnership with Vinyl Me, Please, Ace Hotel celebrates reissues and live recordings from New Orleans artists that celebrate both the history and future of the city. The second album to be given the reissue treatment on vinyl is the Meters’ Uptown Rulers: The Meters Live on the Queen Mary, recorded on the Queen Mary ship in Long Beach, California in 1975. The album was initially released on CD in 1992 by Rhino Records. Through Ace Hotel x Vinyl Me, Please Exclusives, this special performance will now be released on vinyl with a limited availability of 1,000 copies. To celebrate, an Ivan Neville performance this weekend has been announced.
The reissued album is available for purchase during the remainder of October through Ace’s promotional room package that includes a one-night stay, a $50 food and beverage credit to enjoy at Ace Hotel’s acclaimed restaurants and a copy of the vinyl – all by using the “VINYL” rate code. But that isn’t the only way to celebrate the collector’s item. On Sunday, October 22, Ivan Neville will perform at the official release party and kick off his monthly residency at the Three Keys. He will, of course, be performing a Meters tribute set at the party, which is free with RSVP.
