On Friday, December 21, the House of Blues will host Home for the Holidays, an evening of music and art to benefit the Daniel Price Memorial Fund for Aspiring Artists.
The evening will feature two events. First, a patron party and auction with performances from Irma Thomas and John Boutte. Following that is the holiday concert with performances from Kermit Ruffins & The BBQ Swingers, Water Seed, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Ivan Neville & Friends, James Andrews, Trombone Shorty & Friends and current OffBeat cover star Jon Batiste.
Daniel Price was an up-and-coming visual artist and New Orleans native who was killed in San Francisco in 2003. According to the Fund’s website, “Daniel was tragically murdered at the age of 28 in San Francisco while trying to protect his wife from a would-be assailant.” As a graduate of NOCCA, Daniel Price and his memory have been secured in the form of a memorial fund in his name. Launched by his family, the Fund provides scholarships for outstanding visual arts and music students at NOCCA.
Tickets for the Patron Party and Auction are $148 and include a buffet dinner, all-night open bar, silent auction and access to the House of Blues Foundation Room. The holiday concert begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are $48.
