Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus 2025 “Rise of the Superb Owl”

The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus returns for its fourteenth annual parade on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 7 p.m., filling the streets of New Orleans with its signature blend of sci-fi fandom, satire and cosmic creativity. The 2025 theme, “Rise of the Superb Owl,” taps into Chewbacchus’s fan-based roots and mythical lore. Known for its one-of-a-kind devotion to the “Sacred Drunken Wookiee,” Chewbacchus has over 3,000 members and more than 100 subkrewes.

The theme is inspired by an amusing twist from the hit series What We Do in the Shadows, in which vampires misunderstand a Super Bowl party as a celebration of the mythical “Superb Owl.” In keeping with this clever parody, Chewbacchus’s parade will culminate before Super Bowl festivities kick off in New Orleans..

Leading the procession this year will be Meghan Davis, long-time krewe member and captain of the Vampiric Council of New Orleans. Davis, will reign as the “Conjurer of Cosmic Creativity, Summoner of the Superb Owl, and Queen of Darkness.” Davis has been part of the krewe since 2014, inspiring members with her creativity and passion for geek culture. Her previous involvement includes Krewe du Who and establishing the Vampiric Council..

The parade will start at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and St. Claude Avenue, winding its way down Elysian Fields Avenue, turning onto Decatur Street and heading towards Conti Street. The krewe’s subkrewes—each representing a distinct fandom or theme—include iconic groups like Queer Eye for the SciFi, Krewe of Really Awesome Parodies and Chew-Bake-Us..

After the parade, the Chewbacchanal will take place at The Fillmore New Orleans, featuring live music, DJs and immersive entertainment. VIP options and limited general admission tickets will be available for those looking to extend their Chewbacchus experience.
