For its 17th incarnation, Tipitina’s Foundation’s annual Instruments A Comin’ (IAC) concert event and community fundraiser will once again offer up a lineup representing the many vibrant strata of New Orleans’ music culture.
On Monday, April 30, the free and family-friendly street party outside of Tipitina’s Uptown (beginning at 6 p.m.) will feature performances from students who have been recipients of past IAC fundraising. There will also be a silent auction on the neutral ground, a battle of the IAC recipient schools’ marching bands, plus Walk of Fame induction ceremonies.
It’s the indoor concert that provides the opportunity for the majority of IAC’s fundraising efforts. Inside Tip’s, New Orleans Suspects, Johnny Sketch & The Dirty Notes , Naughty Professor, Honey Island Swamp Band, Bo Dollis Jr. & the Wild Magnolias, Nth Power and more will rock the stage to raise money for New Orleans-area schools. More specifically, IAC aims to collect funds with which to purchase musical instruments for local students. Doors for the indoor concert open at 8 p.m.
Folks have the option of purchasing a general-admission ticket for $60 or VIP for $200, which includes access to an outdoor VIP lounge, balcony access, viewing area, specialty cocktails at an open bar and food.
