Roll up your sleeves, New Orleans…or maybe purchase a new one. The Immersed In Ink Tattoo and Arts Festival, a three-day fete featuring 120 of the country’s hottest tattoo artists, takes place this weekend in the ballroom on the second floor of the Harrah’s Hotel.
The show, which will run from Friday, June 15 through Sunday, June 17, will also include artisan craft booths, tattoo supply vendors, and tattoo-themed clothing, as well as performances ranging from human suspension and sideshow to burlesque and belly dancing demonstrations.
Festival-goers will have the opportunity to enter their tattoos in contests, or simply watch tattoo artists as they work. This is the third show this summer of the touring Immersed In Ink festival, which began in 2005 in order to draw attention to the alternative art of tattooing.
Immersed in Ink Magazine will offer coverage of the event, as well as conduct an alternative model search in which the winner will be featured on the cover of the magazine and receive a multiple-page spread. There will also be opportunities for festival-goers to win a free $300 tattoo done by Jose Gonzalez or Vinnie Hottdogg Romero by either liking the Immersed In Ink Facebook page or being one of the first 100 people in line at the show on Friday.
Tickets are $20 per day or $35 for a weekend pass and must be purchased in cash. Adults are encouraged to bring their kids, and the festival will provide complimentary children’s entertainment, including a bounce castle and free admission for children under 12.
