The Howlin’ Wolf has unveiled its initial Jazz Fest after show lineup, which features a number of events with music promoters Live for Live Music, plus some long-running parties like the Megalomaniacs Ball and the Bayou Rendezvous.
The Mixtape Mashup will take over the venue on Friday, April 28. This blast from the past will see Dumpstaphunk perform music from 1974, while The Motet will dig into 1974 and Roosevelt Collier will focus on 1970. Gravy will also be in The Den.
Live for Live Music will present shows on Saturday, April 29, Sunday, April 30 and Tuesday, May 2. Saturday will bring the Break Science Live Band, with Russ Liquid Test and The Werks in The Den. “F*ck 2016: A Tribute to Musicians We Lost” will be there on Sunday, while The Nth Power is set to perform the music of Earth, Wind and Fire on Tuesday night. The All Brothers Band with Oteil Burbridge, Kofi Burbridge, Neil Evans and Alan Evans will also be in The Den on Tuesday with Organ Freeman.
Megalomaniacs Ball will return on Wednesday, May 3 with a headlining set from Mike Dillon Band and special guest Dean Ween. It’s a script flip from last year’s ball, which saw Mike Dillon make a guest appearance with the Dean Ween Group (check out our new interview with Dean Ween here). Mike Dillon’s Punk Rock Percussion Consortium will perform as well, along with the Stanton Moore Trio.
A variety of acts will take the stage when the 15th annual Bayou Rendezvous swings through on Friday, April 5. Dr. Klaw featuring The Shady Horns, Orgone, Monophonics, Space and Harmony and many more are on the bill for that party. Other acts include The Bayou Rendezvous All-Stars with Johnny Vidacovich, Ivan Neville, Oteil Burbridge, Stanton Moore and Eric McFadden, plus Eric Struthers & Friends.
Anders Osborne will headline on Saturday, April 6. Instead of performing with his usual band, the guitarist extraordinaire will be joined by Ivan Neville, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Roosevelt Collier and Mike Dillon. The New Orleans Suspects and Roosevelt Collier & Friends will hold things down in The Den.
Finally, Jazz Fest series will close out on Sunday, May 7 with Live For Live Music’s “Michael Jackson vs. Stevie Wonder” show featuring members of Lettuce and more. Zigaboo Modeliste’s Funk Revue and Organ Freeman will play a late set in The Den.
