Hogs for the Cause has cancelled its programming for today (Friday, April 1) due to severe weather. The festival, which takes place in New Orleans’ City Park, postponed its opening time earlier this afternoon. However, a new post on the event’s Facebook page indicates that they have called off the Friday festivities altogether. It reads:
The safety of our Hogs for the Cause teams, patrons, and staff is of the utmost importance. Due to the weather, we are unable to open our gates tonight. Friday tickets will grant access to the festivities on Saturday. Organizers are devising a refund and or donation to the Cause process. Visit www.hogsforthecause.org for updates. We are looking forward to a beautiful day tomorrow and can’t wait to see you as gates open at 11:00am.
Shovels and Rope, Twiddle and Dragon Smoke are among the acts that were scheduled to appear at Hogs for the Cause today. The festival was also slated to feature a variety pork-related food items as part its annual BBQ competition, though most of those vendors will be at the festival tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, Saturday will showcase music from Greensky Bluegrass, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Deer Tick, Kristin Diable and more. In the meantime, you can get prepared for the festival with out Hogs for the Cause playlist.
Hogs for the Cause’s cancellation is reminiscent of last year’s Voodoo Fest, which called off its Sunday programming due to flooding at City Park’s festival grounds.
Tickets for Hogs for the Cause are still on sale.
