Hogs for the Cause is thrilled to announce the 10th annual charity barbecue cook-off and music festival, set for March 23-24, 2018 at the UNO Lakefront Arena Field. The event raises money to benefit families with children battling brain cancer, and has given grants to over 400 families already. With prizes in Whole Hog, Ribs, Pork Butt/Shoulder, Porkpourri, Sauce, Fan Favorite, Fundraising Champion, and High on the Hog Grand Champion, the competition allows everyone from professional chefs to at-home BBQ enthusiasts to come together and show what they’ve got, all while making a difference to children in need.
The two-day festival will feature a robust music lineup, though details have yet to be announced. Last year included New Orleans artists such as Naughty Professor and George Porter Jr, as well as Shovels and Rope and Railroad Earth. This year’s event has an added Craft Beer Hall, offering beers from local breweries like Port Orleans Brewing Company, Gnarly Barley Brewing Company, Urban South Brewery, and Parish Brewing Company. A partnership with Southern Eagle Distributing also brings Budweiser and Bud Light to the festival, ensuring that no one will be thirsty while there. “For ‘Hogs X’ we want to celebrate all that we have accomplished in 10 years, but more importantly, we want to thank our teams, sponsors, and supporters for helping us spread the word about pediatric brain cancer and raising money to assist those affected by it,” states Becker Hall, Director and Co-Founder of Hogs for the Cause. “Hogs X will undoubtedly have something for everyone. We invite families, friends, co-workers to come out and spend the day with us. Enjoy fabulous food, an amazing schedule of music, and fun times just wandering throughout the field, all while supporting a great cause here in New Orleans.”
