Hike Fest will celebrate the Lafitte Greenway

Hike Fest: Tunes, Tales, and Trails Fest Supports Local New Orleans Community

Music, food, libations, guided hikes and much more will inspire all attendees of The Hike: Tunes, Tales, and Trails Festival presented by Friends of Lafitte Greenway and NORD. The festival is the 13th annual flagship Hike, beginning in 2005, reborn as the Greenway’s first festival. The Hike Fest will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Lafitte Greenway.

The Hike Festival will celebrate the Lafitte Greenway with an all-day lineup of live music featuring Corey Henry & the Treme Funktet, singer Robin Barnes, TBC Brass Band, Cajun band Michot’s Melody Makers with members of Lost Bayou Ramblers, Funk Griot, and the Trombone Shorty Music Academy.

The Festival will also highlight food, drink, and craft vendors from along the Greenway neighborhoods, including Clesi’s Seafood, Liberty’s Kitchen, and Quintin’s Natural Ice Cream. Kids activities and guided walking tours of the Greenway will create a family-friendly environment working to promote the Greenway. During this free celebration, attendees will have the chance to share their own stories about the space and contribute to the vision for the future of this unique public space.

Held in partnership with the New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission, an organization working to provide wholesome opportunities to the residents of New Orleans, and Friends of the Lafitte Greenway, a non-profit community partner working to ensure that the Lafitte Greenway is into a safe community asset, the Hike Festival is the perfect event for local families to support their community.

“The Greenway connects such diverse and culturally rich neighborhoods, from the Tremé to Navarre and everywhere in between,” said Friends of Lafitte Greenway Program Director Nellie Catzen. “Hike Fest is not only a celebration of the Greenway, but of the neighborhoods and people that make it such a lively and vibrant public space.”

The event is at Lafitte Greenway Great Lawn, 500 N Galvez St. New Orleans LA 70119. Beginning at 11 a.m. and lasting until 6 p.m., this event will be a perfect Saturday activity for families, friends, and all New Orleans supporters.
