On Saturday, Nov. 15, an eclectic collection of six New Orleans musical acts will join forces for a good cause.
Singer-songwriter Kelcy Mae has organized a concert called “Highway to the Danger-Free Zone” at the Prytania Bar to raise money for Central City youth center APEX (Always Pursuing Excellence).
APEX is a non-profit establishment that provides meals, tutoring services, recreation, volunteering opportunities, mentoring, and other forms of support to young people in the community.
The concert will feature The Honorable South, The Local Skank, Kelcy Mae, Micah McKee and the Little Maker, Fo On the Flo w/ Slangston Hughes, and Jonathan Brown.
These groups come from all over the musical map, from ska punk to to singer/songwriter, from Southern electric soul-rock to underground rap and spoken word, and everywhere in between.
Prytania Bar is located at 3445 Prytania Street, right by the St. Charles streetcar.
Doors open at 6pm. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.
The event is non-smoking and 18+.
