New Orleans jazz drummer Herlin Riley will join Cuban jazz pianist Ernán López-Nussa on stage in New Orleans later this month. On May 25, the New Orleans Jazz Market will host the New Orleans-Cuba jazz encounter, which also features Alexey Martí and Pat Casey.
The event is a result of the Jazz Market’s partnership with CubaNOLA Arts Collective, who together have organized the impressive jazz quartet. López-Nussa’s arrival in New Orleans comes directly after an appearance at the Artes de Cuba Festival in Washington, D.C.’s prestigious Kennedy Center. CubaNOLA Arts Collective describes itself as a community arts organization “that uses the power of live music, dance, festivity and diversity to promote cultural wellness and equity.”
May 25’s event begins at 9:30 p.m. Immediately following the performance is an after-party with award-winning DJ, AF the Naysayer. Tickets for the evening are available here for $18 or $25 at the door. The New Orleans Jazz Market is located at 1436 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard.
