French Quarter Festivals, Inc (FQFI) has announced the official music lineup for the 37th Anniversary 2020 French Quarter Festival presented by Chevron. A complete music schedule will be released in March.
The French Quarter Festival takes place April 16-19, 2020. The festival, which features an abundance of New Orleans music, art, and food, is favorited by locals and tourists alike. The 2020 Festival will have more than 300 musical acts across 25 stages spread throughout the French Quarter. Featured performing acts include the legendary Little Freddie King and fan favorites Tank and the Bangas, John Boutté, and Amanda Shaw. Thirty-one artists will make their French Quarter Festival debut this year including Loose Cattle (led by Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris), Ricki Lee Jones, Givers, and many more.
The festival organizers have included more stages this year, debuting the Louisiana History and Culture Stage at Le Petit Theatre which will highlight local historians and culture icons on the Saturday and Sunday of the event. The debut of the stage is in partnership with the Historic New Orleans Collection, New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Mint, Backstreet Cultural Museum, and the New Orleans African-American Museum.
Part of what makes the French Quarter Festival attractive to both local and tourist audiences is its display of authentic New Orleans culture. The 1,700+ Louisiana musicians featured at the Festival )along with special events each day) ensure there is no lack of music or culture for attendees to experience. With regional cuisine from more than 60 local restaurants, there is enough food for everyone to devour to their hearts’ delight. “As a nonprofit committed to celebrating New Orleans’ musical heritage we’re proud to welcome our community and guests to the French Quarter,” says Emily Madero, President & CEO of FQFI. “Part of what makes French Quarter Fest so special is that there are no fences or fees — we produce this festival in a public neighborhood open for all to enjoy. There’s really no other festival like it, especially in a city full of celebrations.”
