Health Fair for People & Pets at New Orleans Healing Center

New Orleans Healing Center will host a free health fair for people and pets at the New Orleans Healing Center on Saturday, June 29. Vaccinations, free STD testing, massages and acupuncture will be available for humans while they learn about heartworm prevention for their four-legged friends. There will also be a pet adoption booth. The clinic invites the public to partake in free samples, taste delicious healthy food vendors, and check out informative presentations that pertain to both people and pets. Representatives from Downtown Fitness Center, Crescent Care, Magnolia Physical Therapy, Tumerec Indian Cusine, Mudita Yoga, Big Easy Rescue, Cafe Istanbul, and others will be in attendance.

Wake Deathcare will also be on hand for several events (Community Deathcare Meeting at 1 p.m. followed by Death Café and Legal Clinic beginning at 2 and running through 3:30 p.m.) to answer questions from the community and to host their monthly Death Café, a free event where individuals come to discuss death. Wake organizers state: “Planning in advance for our death includes making both practical and medical decisions. Ideally those decisions are guided by our values and informed by time we’ve spent thoughtfully considering what we think will be important to us at the end of life.  This month we’ll focus on prompts for thinking about (and talking about) the values and beliefs that will help us make those plans.”

New Orleans Healing Center prides itself on its contributions to “the people and biosphere of New Orleans and the world at large, offering a holistic, safe, clean, sustainable center that provides services, products, and programs promoting physical, nutritional, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, economic, environmental, cultural, and civic well-being.”

The free health fair for people and pets will take place this Saturday, June 29 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. New Orleans Healing Center, which aims to bring economic revitalization to the St. Claude Corridor, is located at 2372 St. Claude Avenue.
