The happy bus is coming to New Orleans.
Tony Hsieh, author of the #1 bestseller Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose, will be stopping in New Orleans on Friday as part of a 22-city national bus tour. The event aims to “[celebrate] the strength of community and spirit of support that are helping post-Katrina New Orleans recover and move forward.”
Hsieh is best known as the CEO of Zappos.com, the online clothing and shoe company that was bought out by Amazon last year in a deal rumored to be worth $1.2 billion. He’s been widely celebrated for the success of Zappos and his insistence on customer service as the cornerstone of the company’s business. He will be joined by three other speakers: Stefan Wilson, President of UPS Gulf South District; Zack Rosenberg, Co-Founder of St. Bernard Project; and Chris Schultz, Founder of TribeCon, a social media conference taking place at this year’s Voodoo Experience.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m. for a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception in the grand ballroom of the W Hotel at 333 Poydras. Hsieh’s keynote speech is invite only, but the public is free to attend the Delivering Happiness Block Party from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Launch Pad offices at the corner of Magazine and Girod. Live music will be provided by Mia Borders, MyNameIsJohnMichael’s John Michael Rouchell, and Bonerama. At 4:45, Big Sam will lead a second line from the W Hotel to the party.
