Fareed Haque will team up with a stellar assortment of musicians to headline two nights at the Maple Leaf this weekend.
Dubbed “Fareed & His Funk Bros,” the project finds the modern guitar master joined by Galactic drummer Stanton Moore, pedal steel player Roosevelt Collier and organist Tony Monaco.
The group will hold things down at the Maple Leaf on Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7, though the Saturday night show will feature guest appearances by renowned bassist Victor Wooten and Dave Matthews Band saxophonist Jeff Coffin.
In a move that’s usually reserved for high-demand gigs, the Maple Leaf has made tickets to Fareed & His Funk Bros available online before the day of the show.
Haque is a classical and jazz guitar virtuoso, but his genius lies in the way he fuses that foundation with a wide-range of world musical styles. He has toured with Sting and is best known for his work with Garaj Mahal, a genre-bending jam band that toured from 2000 to 2011.
