This weekend, Gregg Stafford & His Jazz Hounds will put on a special performance at Maison.
The trumpeter and vocalist will be joined by Frank Naundorf (trombone), Seva Venet (banjo/guitar), Mari Watanabe (piano), Tyler Thomason (bass) and Benny Amon (drums) on Sunday, October 7. Stafford is beloved for his decades of work in jazz; in 1994, he became the leader of Danny Barker’s Jazz Hounds, a group of which he’d himself been a member since the 1980s. Eventually, Stafford founded the Black Men of Labor, a civic organization focused on cultivating brass bands in New Orleans.
The show is being called a celebration of “Sunday Funday” and it’s free!
Things kick off at 4 p.m. and will run until 7 p.m. Maison is located at 508 Frenchmen St.
