A “Preservation Hall Super Jam,” featuring many New Orleans music legends is scheduled for—of all places—Greenwich, Connecticut on May 27.
The Greenwich Town Party has announced A “Preservation Hall Super Jam,” at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park. Curated by Ben Jaffe of Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Grammy Award winner Eric Krasno, the event will feature a collaboration of top New Orleans musicians, including the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, George Porter, Jr., Ivan Neville, bassist Tony Hall, drummer Raymond Weber, Tarriona “Tank” Ball (of Tank and the Bangas), the Revivalists, Trombone Shorty, Irma Thomas, Cyril Neville, and others, including Mavis Staples and Wyclef Jean. Before the Super Jam, the event will also offer immersive and educational experiences celebrating the vibrant sounds of New Orleans.
The Greenwich Town Party is an annual town party modeled after the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, intending to unite the community for a day of great music and food. Community and senior tickets will be available through an online ticket lottery, with lottery submissions accepted from March 22 to April 7. Neighbor and Sponsor tickets are also available for purchase online.
Founder of the Greenwich Town Party, New Orleans music lover and author Ray Dalio (of hedge fund Bridgewater fame), expressed excitement about bringing the best of New Orleans music to the town. “We know it will knock everyone’s socks off,” said Dalio. Ben Jaffe of Preservation Hall Jazz Band added, “While musicians entertain from the stage, the Greenwich community can dance in the park like we do in the streets of New Orleans!”
The Greenwich Town Party’s tradition of showcasing musical talent will continue, with the Town Stage featuring local bands and world-renowned musicians. The complete 2023 Town Stage lineup will be announced next month.
Community and Senior tickets are $85 and $25 per ticket, respectively. Greenwich residents, business owners, and employees can enter the online ticket lottery by submitting a form on the Greenwich Town Party website.
