Headliner Green Day has cancelled the band’s Voodoo Fest appearance, amid speculation on whether Billie Joe Armstrong would be able to perform due to his recent stay in rehab. The band was set to headline Saturday, October 27’s bill in City Park.
10/ 9 UPDATE: An MTV report is quoting a statement from Voodoo Fest founder/producer Stephen Rehage: “We, like everyone, were looking forward to having Green Day back at Voodoo. Their 2004 performance was one of the festival’s greatest. We are obviously disappointed in the news, but realize the health and well being of Billie Joe is the most important thing right now. We wish him and the entire Green Day family the best and offer them our full support.”
With a little more than two weeks until Voodoo 2012 kicks off, there’s been no word of a replacement act yet. Stay tuned.
