A bi-monthly international and virtual music festival will invite musicians from New Orleans to share a global stage with performers from Argentina, Colombia, South Africa and the Caribbean.
Global Groove kicks off on Saturday, September 12 and airs from 3 to 5:40 p.m. Central. Preservation Hall Jazz Band, CASME and Mario Abney share a bill with the Argentine Yamile Burich & Ladies Jazz Quintet, and Caio Tronix. Future episodes will expand the offerings to include musicians from Denmark, Ivory Coast, Mali, and France.
The virtual festival was created in an effort to highlight the difficulties professional musicians are facing worldwide due to the pandemic. Global Groove will collect donations on the performers’ behalf through Facebook, and each of the band’s will have virtual tip jars set up during their respective performances. There is no entry fee to watch the shows.
