A bi-monthly international and virtual music festival invites musicians from New Orleans to share a global stage with performers from Argentina, Colombia, South Africa and the Caribbean.
Featured artists this week will be Preservation Hall Jazz Band, repping New Orleans and Cuba; Derron Ellies of Trinidad and Tobago; Waraba of Bogota, Colombia; Otra of New Orleans; La Matilda of Ecuador; Timbi Africa of Cali, Colombia; Muevelo featuring Margie Perez & Brent Roze, also of New Orleans and Cuba, and Ikandra of Cali, Colombia.
The virtual festival was created in an effort to highlight the difficulties professional musicians are facing worldwide due to the pandemic. Global Groove will collect donations on the performers’ behalf through Facebook, and each of the band’s will have virtual tip jars set up during their respective performances.
