New Orleans-based indie pop duo Generationals have announced the upcoming release of their fifth studio album, Heatherhead, on June 2 through Polyvinyl Records. The album will feature 11 tracks, including the duo’s debut single, “Dirt Diamond,” which is out now, along with a music video directed by POND Creative. Heatherhead is produced by Nick Krill, who has previously worked with bands such as The War on Drugs and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
The album is the duo’s first in four years and marks a new chapter in their 13-year career. Generationals have also announced a national tour that will kick off in Houston on September 7, featuring stops in Austin, Los Angeles, and New York City. The tour will conclude on October 20 at Tipitina’s.
According to the duo, the album results from a restart, as they scrapped sessions that weren’t exciting or authentic to them. The duo found a better understanding of their identity and sound than ever before, resulting in a conversational album. The band has been known for its blend of genres, and their sound is display on Heatherhead.
With the announcement of the new album and tour, Generationals fans can look forward to experiencing the duo live in a city near them.
