Galactic is back with a new track, “Into the Deep,” from their upcoming album of the same name.

Featuring Macy Gray on vocals, the new song is something of a departure from the instrumental funk jamming of the Galactic of old, but it’s perfectly in sync with the current touring version of the band.

Gray accompanied Galactic at Jazz Fest 2015 for a set tailored to her unique style and delivery, but she wasn’t the only singer to join the band in the studio for the new album.

Mavis Staples, JJ Grey, Ryan Montbleau, David Shaw of The Revivalists, Maggie Koerner, Brushy One String and Charm Taylor all perform with Galactic on Into the Deep.

The album will be released on July 17, and it is available for pre-order on iTunes now.
