A funeral service for beloved New Orleans gospel singer Jo “Cool” Davis will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in New Orleans on Saturday, August 13. Visitation will begin at 9am, and a service will follow at 10am.

As previously reported, Davis passed away on Friday at the age of 63. A native and resident of New Orleans, Davis was a well-known performer of gospel music who recorded prolifically and picked up a variety of awards, including two Best of the Beat Awards, the Gospel Music Heritage Award, the Pioneers Recording Award and a Living Music Heritage Award from the Mardi Gras Indian Hall of Fame. He was also a fixture at Tipitina’s, where he worked a doorman for many years.
