Friends of the Cabildo (FOC) recently announced a six-part educational film series for 2018-2019 that highlights Louisiana culture and history. FOC is a private nonprofit dedicated to educating locals about the history of the southeastern United States, by providing financial and volunteer support to the Louisiana State Museum.
The films were chosen to include a variety of genres and focuses. This year’s lineup of films include a documentary, a crime-drama and a Louisiana International Film Festival favorite.
Screenings will be held on select Wednesdays throughout the 2018-2019 year. The schedule of films is as follows:
August 22: Ella Brennan: Commanding the Table
October 17: The Big Easy
December 12: Forever Waves
January 16: Piano Players Rarely Ever Play Together
March 20: Big Charity: Death of America’s Oldest Hospital
April 25: 1970 Jazz Fest Films
The films will be shown at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m on the 3rd floor Performance Hall of the New Orleans Jazz Museum. Dr. Vivian Norris, a.k.a Obama Mama, a filmmaker and Tulane University professor will lead discussions after 7 p.m. showings.
