The Friends of the Cabildo (FOC) Walking Tour Guide Class begins in March 2023 with applications being accepted now. Held each spring, the class is a 100-hour course on New Orleans history, public speaking skills, and the mechanics of leading a walking tour into to train new French Quarter tour guides and to raise funds for the organization.
The cost of the course is $250. In addition, students agree to provide two volunteer walking tours per month, for a period of two years, for the Friends of the Cabildo. Classes are held on the third floor of the Arsenal Building in the Cabildo complex off Jackson Square.
The class is held for four weeks on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (with some additional days possible due to speaker schedules), from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., starting Monday, March 7. The class includes extensive lectures, instruction, and field trips. Students should be prepared to walk in the French Quarter daily.

All students must become members of the Friends of the Cabildo. Students must complete a minimum of four tag-along tours prior to the beginning of class.
