On Sunday, January 19, 2014, Raw Oyster Cult, the New Orleans Suspects and the Mardi Gras Indian Orchestra will headline the inaugural Freret Street Oyster Jam at the Freret Street Publiq House. Clearly, this is the gig that the Raw Oyster Cult has been waiting for. Now if Bearded Oysters marching krewe show up, it will be one ex-shell-ent afternoon!
The all-day event, which runs from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., will feature a raw oyster bar as well as new and classic oyster-based dishes from guests chefs. On top of the food and live music, the festival will also make room for the NFC and AFC championship games. In addition to the Publiq House’s indoor screens, the football games will be shown on outdoor screens that will be set up in the parking lot adjacent to the bar, turning the slippery, savory jam into a mini block party uptown.
Tickets to the Freret Street Oyster Jam are currently available online for $20. Tickets purchased at the gate on Sunday will cost $25. The Publiq House is located at 4528 Freret Street (map).
