Mystery Street Records, a “sister company” to Threadhead Records, has released Sounds of New Orleans: Frenchmen Street, which pulls together tracks from Threadhead releases by artists that play on Frenchmen. To accompany the release, Mystery Street has made an app for the iPhone with information about the project, videos from Frenchmen Street performances and music from the album. It can be downloaded here for free.

Hopefully, the first update will identify the artists who sing the songs; as of now, instead of Margie Perez, Alex McMurray, the New Orleans Nightcrawlers and more, each song is attributed to “Sounds of New Orleans: Frenchmen Street.” Still, it’s an easy way to put Frenchmen’s music in your pocket.
