The French Quarter Secret Gardens Tour is set to enchant visitors and locals alike on Sunday, May 26, from 12 noon to 4 pm. This exclusive event allows participants to explore private gardens and courtyards nestled within the Vieux Carre, offering a unique perspective on the historic neighborhood’s lush greenery and architectural splendor.

Organized by Patio Planters of the Vieux Carre in collaboration with French Quarter homeowners, the self-guided walking tour will unveil at least five meticulously curated gardens and a refreshment courtyard. This initiative not only celebrates the beauty of these hidden gems but also serves as a fundraiser for the annual Caroling in Jackson Square event held each December.

Attendees can expect to marvel at the ingenuity of designers and residents who have transformed small spaces into verdant oases, blending early Spanish and French architectural styles with local flora to create cool retreats perfectly suited to New Orleans’ climate. A detailed map indicating the locations of the featured gardens and courtyards will be provided to participants upon ticket pickup.

To ensure a seamless experience, advance tickets are strongly recommended and can be purchased online at patioplanters.net for $35 each. Ticket holders can collect their pre-purchased tickets on the day of the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. under the alcove of the Cabildo on Jackson Square. Limited day-of tickets will also be available for $40 at the same location. Children under 12 can join the tour for free.

It’s important to note that the tour focuses solely on outdoor spaces, with no access to interior areas of homes. Due to the historic nature of the French Quarter’s architecture, maneuvering strollers or wheelchairs may pose challenges in some areas.
