As New Orleans enters the second month of mandatory stay-at-home orders, the organizers of French Quarter Festival and Satchmo SummerFest have announced the two events are officially canceled.
French Quarter Festivals, Inc. (FQFO) revealed the news that, “out of caution for the safety of fans, musicians, staff and partners,” the two festivals — postponed until October and originally scheduled for this summer, respectively — will not take place due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, the company said, “For the remainder of the year, FQFI will refocus our energy on innovating to create new ways to deliver on our mission in 2020. We look forward to returning stronger together April 8-11, 2021 for French Quarter Festival and July 30 – August 1, 2021 for Satchmo SummerFest —where we’ll all be dancin’ in the streets!”
To plan ahead for a strong 2021 festival season, FQFI announced the Resilience Campaign. Donors to the campaign will receive recognition on the organization’s website as well as festival merchandise.
